The customer was a prominent textile tycoon who owned a large plot of land on a hill near Lake Garda. He was not happy with the entrance to the garden, where a neglected old pond had almost entirely dried up over time and left a hollow in the ground. He wanted something distinctive, original and unexpected that would astound everyone who came to the house.
We decided to change the appearance of that part of the garden by building a swimming pond.
We created an expanse of water spanning more than 1,500 m² that tied together the existing Garda landscape – with its numerous olive trees – and the modern, technological architecture of the house.
The results are spectacular. When it is seen from the right point of view, the pond seems to flow directly into Lake Garda and become part of it. Youngsters can dive straight off the two areas of natural wood decking into the water, while for older people it is the perfect place to watch the sun set over the lake or spend evenings with friends.
The little sand and Luserna stone beach provides access to the crystal-clear water and a route has been created so that people can take a relaxing stroll around the swimming pond – even going barefoot if they like – and make the most of its natural delights.
The solution meets all of the customer’s requirements in terms of originality, beauty and utilization of the swimming pond.
